I think its very sad that it takes a "death" for people to "become a fan" in a sense. im sure there were many people who didnt like her, but now decided to run out and buy CDs (or download tracks). I think the best example of this happening was when Michael Jackson Died, and his sales increased dramatically, even more than when lennon or elvis died. Its a shame that we live in a society that cant appreciate good music until something drastic happens and the media push it in our faces.
just a personal thing that gets me.

Let me quote one of my favourite Death In June songs:
ReplyDelete"I used to think it was funny
But it's very sad"
Example of MJ is the best. There is nothing as good as death of artist that makes records sales grow up a lot...
Yes I know how you feel, starting to hear a lot of people who used to hate Amy become fans now just because she died so young
ReplyDeleteSame thing with art too sometimes. It's the weirdest feeling of you'll miss it when it's gone, so they try to compensate. +Followed
ReplyDeleteI agree, its stupid. what annoys me more is that she wasnt a tragic victim. she was a crack head. waste of talent.
ReplyDeleteyou're right man. some people are just bandwagon idiots who go and pretend they enjoy certain music to fit in.
ReplyDeletegood post
People have to die first before the rest recognizes what they have lost. Sad but true.
ReplyDeleteThis Amy Whinehouse thing reminds me of Vincent Van Gogh. They get popular when they don't live anymore. Kinda sad but it's true. Just like those people who "cared" for the girl who just recently killed her self because of cyber bullying. People only "cared" when she is already dead. Like I sad if they really cared that wouldn't have happened.
ReplyDeleteone more in the 27 Club...realy tragic... :-(
ReplyDeleteI still don't like her...
ReplyDeleteI still don't like Michael Jackson either.
totally agree with what mekkor said
ReplyDeleteSome people are born after death, said Nietzsche.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I know exactly where you are coming from
ReplyDelete^^ me too
ReplyDeleteI didnt like amy winehouse before nor after she died, but of course its sad considering how young she was.
ReplyDeleteThats what you get for using drugs.
If it makes any difference, I'm still not a fan of Amy Winehouse!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, I have a lot of wine and liquor reviews on my page, come and check me out sometime!
As usual I find myself agreeing with you, though I was a fan of MJ before he died. Normally it is because people want collectors items and what not though, it is sad, but it is the world we live in. I probably wouldn't be an Amy Winehouse fan if she came back to life, died again, and had her own religion though.
ReplyDeleteDeath makes people act stupid.
ReplyDeleteI've always liked amy winehouse, but never actually downloaded any of her music until yesterday... I just suppose her death reminded me how good she was and I just listened to it as a 'tribute' if you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteGood post
I think its the fact that people who did not like her before never bothered to listen to her music, but hearing as how she died and all the media talking about how an amazing artist just died, people want to fit in with the crowd and download the music to see what it was all about.
ReplyDeleteMe personally, I liked her, but that does not mean I am going to download all her songs now.
Haha man, I didn't even know who it was. Nice blog tho, following.
ReplyDeleteAnd the same thing is happening now with Amy. -.-'
ReplyDeletePeople need to open their eyes before it's too late... It truly sucks tht it works that way.
ReplyDeleteI do not even buy albums.
ReplyDeleteSame as Rich. +follow.
ReplyDeleteYep exactly!
ReplyDeleteI've never actually heard of her until now, which is why I'm youtubing some of her songs.
ReplyDeleteThe death of one is a tragedy. The death of a million is just a statistic.
ReplyDeletei cant agree more with what was said :/
ReplyDeleteeh it happens. Everyone lives in their own bubble, sometimes the death of a person pricks the bubble and they look about. If the circumstance was sad or whatever. Most people are too busy with their own lives to give the time of day to another person. It happens
ReplyDeleteis this about amy winehouse?
ReplyDeleteI agree, I had a friend who went out and bought a Micheal Jackson CD after he died.
ReplyDeletedeath is one of the things that makes art more valuable because that one person will never make more. personally though i dont care who died.
ReplyDeleteI never liked her and I still don't.
ReplyDeleteYou don't know what ya got till its gone. Truer than ever. You are spot-on.
ReplyDeleteOh, and thanks for commenting on my blog post -- I will reward your kindne$$ ;)
Same thing goes for almost any sort of artist. Picasso was poor for most of his life, but after his death he become one of the most saled painters.

great post, nice words!
ReplyDeleteEh, I never liked her to begin with not gonna jump on the bandwagon nw
ReplyDeletePeople tend to be somewhat wary of openly hating on the dead. Just leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouths.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I'm not a fan of her music. But it is very sad that Amy Winehouse died. My condolences to her family and friends.
