In England, we have our recycling collected (plastics, glass and paper). Each type is sorted into little tubs (where I come from its blue for plastics, green for paper and black for glass). they very big, only the size an A3 piece of paper and about a foot deep, so not surprisingly, after a heavy weekend reading all the rubbish that is pushed through my mailbox, or drinking plenty of booze, sometimes the boxes tend to overflow. Take the paper tub for example, any normal person with a brain cell would think, "Oh, I know, I will use a cardboard box to put the rest of my recycling in. I can use A) a cereal box B) a box laying around the house or C) next time I'm at the supermarket, I will take home one of the FREE packing boxes they have under the counters"
But this, it seems, is not the case. Because I'm constantly seeing people who think it is ok to put their excess paper in a plastic bag! A plastic bag?! Are these people really that stupid?
Seriously annoys me.
And these people are allowed to vote and breed.

ReplyDeleteHaha, I mean, my problem in the U.S. isn't really the same, but people in my neighborhood put all the recycling they have in one bin and then put all the excess in a trash bag, that's fine. The issue is, they leave it next to their actual trashcan and it gets thrown away in regular trash so they lose the recycling.

ReplyDeleteSo I don't really see people putting paper in plastic bags around here much. I think its for that reason.
In the city I live in the people who come to collect just dump all the recycled goods in with the rest of the garbage. It's not even worth doing anymore.

ReplyDeleteWell, when it comes to recycling for me it comes from a strange direction. I am a larper but here in Bulgaria we can't afford to buy equipment most of the time so we make it all ourselves. Thus we use any material available. I made myself a quite nice kite shield from a thrown away piece of a wardrobe I found one day, used second hand clothes cut up for leather straps and whatnot, plus I train in plate armor making at a local workshop where I use the leftover bits to make gear, chopping up the ones that are too small to be used and turning them into scale mail, spaulders etc.
