Is there a Santa Claus? - a physicist view

Consider the following:
1) No known species of reindeer can fly. BUT there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not COMPLETELY rule out flying reindeer which only Santa has ever seen.

2) There are 2 billion children (persons under 18) in the world. BUT since Santa doesn't (appear) to handle the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and Buddhist children, that reduces the workload to 15% of the total - 378 million according to Population Reference Bureau. At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that's 91.8 million homes. One presumes there's at least one good child in each.

Christmas? Bah Humbug

Anyone know how many days it is until Christmas?

I don't. No one bought me an advent calendar.

I've not even started my Christmas shopping yet. Jeez I'm behind. Anyone wanna do my shopping for me?

Plus I've not even put any decorations up yet.....


Oh well, Merry Christmas I suppose!

That's just PLANE annoying...

I dunno about you guys, but whenever I fly I ALWAYS get lumped with the weirdos. I look down the plane and see normal people, but I look left and right and almost cry.

Virgin Millionaire's House Burnt Down

During a storm last night, around 4am local time a bolt of lighting hit the roof of Richard Branson's home on Necker Island. Around 20 people have escaped unharmed but the building has been completely destroyed. His blog reads:

We had a tropical storm with winds up to 90mph. A big lightning storm came around 4am and hit the house. My son Sam and nephew Jack rushed to the house and helped get everyone out and many thanks to Kate Winslet for helping to carry my 90 year mum out of the main house to safety - she was wondering when a Director was going to shout CUT!

Airport Drop-off Fees

So I've just got in from dropping my partner off at the airport (She just text me, she's arrived) and I decided I had to post about the daylight robbery that is Airport Drop-off Fees.

To drop her off it cost me £7.50!

£7.50!

What a rip off!

She'll be walking there next time!

The Great British Seagull

Jeeze the seagulls in England are huge! And they're strong, the other day I saw one pull a full bag of rubbish along a carpark!

Also, why is it that they feel the need to nick everyone's food? Chips, Sausage Rolls, Sandwiches, anything, they will have it!

And they are so noisy. Kept me awake most nights while I was on holiday (Don't they ever sleep?) One particular seagull decided to eat its way through the roofing on the cabin I was in, so I was rudely awoken on Wednesday by the rain dripping through onto the pillow!

Do you have seagulls where you come from? If so, are they as annoying as ours?

Guess Who's Home?

Well, I'm home from a week in Cornwall and man has my blog been neglected! Overall traffic is down which isn't great. But don't worry, during my week in the sun (and rain) I have found many things that annoy me, so over the next few days I will surely be blogging!

I got home a little over 2 hours ago after a 10 hour drive from the south of england back to my house, so I'm now going to bed. More in the morning.

From the beach

Just a quick on today, blogging from my phone on a beach with 1 bar of signal (not even 3G!).

Seaweed is so annoying! All I want to do is go for a paddle, but in order to get into the sea I have to walk through a massive deposit of the stuff. It's slippery and bloody annoying. Oh well, I'll dig a hole instead.
